Elect KEELEY GREER, District 8 Shelby County Commissioner

Your Neighbor, Your Voice, Your Commissioner

Campaign Hero

My Bio

Keeley Greer is a lifelong Memphian, husband, father, officer, leader, and your neighbor. Keeley is a man of action, NOT a career politician. He believes in common sense principles—family, personal responsibility, and limited government. His desire to serve as Shelby County Commissioner of District 8 is rooted in protecting what’s right, preserving what works , and fixing what’s broken.

Born and raised in Frayser and later Midtown Memphis, Keeley has been a resident of Memphis his entire life. Following graduation from Christian Brothers High School, he worked in the hospitality industry, serving in several capacities- all of which helped prepare him for the job he had dreamed of since childhood- a career in public safety.

Keeley has proudly served and protected our community for the last 20 years as a Memphis City Police Officer. Following the Police Academy, he was assigned to the former West Precinct at 1925 Union Avenue, where he received his earliest and most memorable up-close exposure to the best and the worst of what society has to offer. This is also the time where he first noticed the impact of how leadership can make a difference.

Keeley’s experience in law enforcement makes him uniquely qualified for addressing issues like public safety and crime in our beloved city. He is deeply committed to community engagement and has built strong ties to local residents, giving him unmatched insight into District 8’s unique challenges. Frustrated by how politics have evolved into extreme opinions of how issues should be resolved, he believes that by better communicating with one another, compromises can be found that benefit everyone in our community. Keeley and his wife Elizabeth have raised their three daughters here in Shelby County and since recently becoming “empty nesters”, have been proud to call Downtown Memphis their newest home.

Being immersed in Downtown, Midtown, Frayser, and South Memphis as not only a resident, but also a police officer, Keeley has felt a calling to do more for his community. His love for his hometown along with his strong commitment to education and public safety has led him to run for Shelby County Commissioner. He believes this district is in dire need of a common sense approach, not another career politician and that his unique qualifications and strong leadership abilities make him the ideal candidate for this position. Keeley says he’s ready to take on this challenge and further adds, “we need to stand up for law enforcement, protect taxpayers, and deliver economic growth that never loses sight of the community values that make District 8 a great place to live and visit. That’s why I’m asking for your vote to serve as Commissioner for the 8th District of Shelby County”.

My Key Issues

Responsible Spending

As commissioner, I will prioritize transparency and accountability in how taxpayer dollars are spent. That means asking tough questions, reviewing budgets carefully and making sure funding is directed toward the services that matter most: public safety, infrastructure and education. Residents deserve to know where their money is going and see real results in their communities.

Education

Our school system faces real challenges, and progress has been slowed by a lack of alignment between key stakeholders. As commissioner, I will work to bring the school board, county leadership and state partners to the table to focus on practical, student-centered solutions. That includes supporting funding decisions that strengthen classrooms, improve outcomes and create real pathways for students after graduation.

Public Safety & Reducing Crime

Public safety requires both immediate action and long-term solutions. We must ensure law enforcement and public safety programs are properly funded, while also addressing the root causes of crime. That includes investing in education, workforce development and reentry programs that help individuals build stable careers. Expanding access to trade programs and job training, especially for those re-entering the workforce, can reduce recidivism and create safer, stronger communities.
